Moving to a new home can be an exhilarating experience for all. From the initial decision-making to unpacking your final box in your new location, it cannot be matched!

At the same time, various factors can prolong or delay the moving process, and none more so than your budget.

To say the last eighteen months have been financially challenging for us all would be an understatement. Faced with unprecedented events, we have had to tighten our belts in more ways than one and brace for the storm.

However, with the housing market going from strength to strength, many might find themselves in a position where they want to act quickly and jump onto the property ladder sooner rather than later.

While some people will have mounds of savings to sit back on, others will have to budget more carefully to afford this purchase. Millennials have been making their way onto the property ladder in recent months and are thought to be some of the most money-savvy generations to have existed.

As a result, you can expect people in this category to want to get the most out of their money and proprietary investment.

Read on to find some of the most affordable locations in the United States, ideal for millennials and others. No matter what your budget is projected to be, we feel confident you will find something that suits your needs here.

Dayton, Ohio

One of the many Midwestern states in the country, it is only natural that some of the many townships and cities within these areas are home to some of the most affordable places, both for millennials and others.

Dayton, Ohio, lies in the west of the state, a short drive from the state border with Indiana.

One of the larger cities in the United States, young professionals who relocate to this area can expect to find an abundance of facilities and amenities, with something to suit any lifestyle.

Dayton offers a low cost of living compared to other towns and cities across the country, so it is undoubtedly a top choice for many to consider. Not to mention, the city offers a slower pace of life compared to its coastal counterparts; what’s not to love?!

Furthermore, fun-loving young professionals can expect a thriving nightlife, with a wide range of bars and clubs to choose from.

Charleston, South Carolina

North and South Carolina offer visitors and residents alike the opportunity to explore an abundance of cultures. There is no doubt these places are high on the list of desirable places to live for millennials.

Charleston, South Carolina, for example, is an incredibly affordable place to live, and for several reasons.

Nestled on the coast, this is a city that is rich in history. The real estate in this area is particularly aesthetic to prospective homeowners; think the likes of antebellum houses and cobblestone streets.

At the same time, as the largest city in the state of South Carolina, you can expect the housing market to be vast, with excellent availability for those looking to relocate here.

Naturally, it can be hard to judge what the markets are like without being there yourself. Using the services of real estate agents in South Carolina will minimize the number of obstacles you face while also getting you the most from your budget.

Chattanooga, Tennessee

Tennessee itself has so much to offer both its residents and tourists alike. Abundant in culture and history, this is undoubtedly a top choice for millennials looking to relocate and more. Particularly if you are a fan of country music, this is the one for you!

Chattanooga is the fourth-largest city in the state, but do not think that this means you are missing out should you choose to live here over the likes of Nashville and Memphis.

Wander these iconic streets and learn about the city’s role during the American Civil War and how it has progressed since then to establish itself amongst others.

For those nature lovers reading this and beyond, when opting to relocate to Chattanooga, you can expect to have excellent transport links to the nearby mountains and ridges, including the iconic and ever-famous Appalachian Mountains.

At the same time, you are completely and utterly spoiled for choice! You will get to experience all that the city and surrounding areas have to offer without breaking the bank.

An incredibly affordable place to live in The Volunteer State, this is certainly something to consider as a young professional looking to relocate.

Provo, Utah

Head further west from our previous suggestions, and you will also find affordable places to live. Provo, Utah, is an incredibly picturesque place to live, whether you are of young professional age or not.

Surrounded by a plethora of mountains and hills, this is a great place to relocate for those who enjoy getting active and hiking when they are not working. Furthermore, the opportunity to venture into watersports is also available; the city lies adjacent to Utah Lake and Provo Bay.

Home to a wide range of museums, this is a city that is packed full of culture and history. With plenty to do and activities to explore, you will never have a dull moment!

What’s more, for those out there who prefer to venture to the nearest bar rather than outdoors, you also have a lot to choose from. With a wide variety of bars and restaurants, there is something to offer for everyone.

Throughout recent years, Provo has been deemed one of the best places to live in the United States, thanks to its high levels of well-being. Couple this with the affordable house prices, and you have the ultimate recipe for success! After all, some do say that the west is best!

Rochester, New York

Unlike its state namesake, Rochester is nestled at the most northern point of the state, on the banks of Lake Ontario. In recent years, this was considered the most affordable city in the United States for millennials, and this reputation does not seem to have lessened as time has passed.

Much like other suggestions in this piece, millennials who venture to this part of the country can expect to find a rich local history and plenty of cultural activities like museums and art galleries.

Not to mention, this city is host to an international airport and various interstates; these excellent transport links are enough to gain the attention of anyone looking to move.

The cost of living in the city is lower than the United States average. With various housing options available, we can safely say this is a desired location by many millennials, both those with young families and those without.

Overall, we would be right in saying that there are various and exciting affordable locations dotted throughout the United States. With something out there for everyone, we feel confident your search for your forever home will be one that is completed soon!

Conduct your research and even pay visits to the places on your list; imagining yourself making this new city your home will make the overall decision much easier.
