Over the last few days, I have been talking a lot about SXSW. It’s a huge festival here in Austin, Texas every year. It used to be a small music festival, but now SXSW has an education, interactive, film, and music portion. Because of this, SXSW gets bigger and bigger each year. Therefore, the price of a badge goes up as well. Luckily, I have some ways to help you save money on your badge. Not only can you attend free SXSW parties without a badge, and volunteer in exchange for a free SXSW badge, now there are SXSW deals for students. If you are a current student, then you can take advantage of the BOGO free SXSW badge for students and the 2020 SXSW student passes discounts.
BOGO Free SXSW Badge for Students + Half Price Badges Deal
Until Thursday, March 1 when students buy one badge, they can get one free for a fellow student. If you are currently enrolled in high school, college or university then you can take advantage of the SXSW deal for students here.
Normally, if purchased ahead of time, badges cost $1290 for each portion of the festival. Student badges for SXSW Interactive, SXSW Film, and SXSW Music are discounted to $395 each. Then, (in 2019) you’ll also get a coupon to register an additional student for free. To compare, if you were to buy a badge at the festival, then the cost would be $1290+.
How to get the free SXSW badge for students and student deal
To take advantage of the SXSW student deal you’ll need to fill out a form with both of the students’ names and provide proof of current enrollment. Also, it appears faculty members can advantage of this deal too! They too, just need to show some proof of employment.
Maybe it’s worth it to hurry up and enroll in a class so you can save money on your SXSW badge. 🙂
