This is a collaborative post by Ellie Jo about travel destinations.
LA is a world-famous city of its incredibly powerful culture. It’s the home of Hollywood, rap, hip-hop, Beverly Hills rich and famous and of course, the sunshine and palm trees. It’s been consistently the number one destination to visit on the east coast of America. But why? It does have something to do with the LA Lakers. They are an incredible team, with perhaps the largest following of any sports team in the world. But it’s also because LA as a city is unmatched in so many areas. We are going to explore the team and these areas right now and see what the home of the Lakers is all about.
Disneyland Park
Yes, of all the Disneyland parks in the world, the one in LA is the best. It’s the home of where it all began, with so many believing the one in LA to be the very first site. In 1955, there were two Disneyland parks that were built in California. The one in LA seems to have been the first. It has a 4.6-star rating on Google, with over 111,000 people have given their honest thoughts on it. The theme park is just amazing. With so many of our favorite childhood characters just walking about or doing their thing on stage. Mickey Mouse and his band of happy toons are everywhere in the park, which is great for kids who want to hug, chat and play with their favorite on-screen characters. The park is also very large, so you have lots to do. Roller coasters, train rides, theater performances, live shows and water activities are all part and parcel for this place.

The dining!
Seriously, of all the places in the USA, LA is the best place to go for a dining experience that is out of this world. There are so many choices you wouldn’t even believe us if we told you. The Grand Central Market has a 4.5-star rating for a good reason. You can get donuts, French bread, Asian spices, and Mexican fruit all from this once place. It’s very versatile and offers lots of variety. Meals By Genet is an authentic Ethiopian restaurant that we went to just because of the interesting photos it had on it’s Google Maps profile. Made by an Ethiopian immigrant family, the food was truly amazing. You can tell that they use the real deal ingredients and not substitutes. It’s nothing like we have ever tasted before. Spicy, creamy, chewy, and very filling, we highly recommend this place.
The stadium
The Staples Center in LA is the home of the Lakers. It’s by far the most interesting sports team in America. They have recently just lost Kobe Bryant who had a large influence over the team. His years of service to the team, included winning the NBA league, training the new team members and also helping young players find their footing in their careers. However, the team has bounced back and is doing well to keep the flame of excellence alive. But the road to this height wasn’t easy. Did you know that LA Lakers Fans Riot Three Times In A Decade? Yeah, they have expressed their displeasure quite often and have been perhaps the most vocal fanbase of all the NBA teams. Maybe this is why they have shaped their teams so much, as managers, coaches and players have to be accepted by the fans if they are to stay for any length of period. Other teams can force players onto the fans but the LA Lakers fans are never going to put up with this.
Rodeo drive
This is the best place to go shopping by far. It looks like something straight out of a movie. The pearly white storefronts, the palm trees in the background, the splendor, and designer brands all showcasing in shiny large window displays. It’s beautiful but it’s expensive. We recommend that you only go down Rodeo Drive if you really intend to make a purchase. The prices are a little high in some stores but then you also have more affordable options in the same street. Thrift stores are also alive and well, with many of last year’s designer items.
LA is such an alluring city and it’s not just because of the Lakers. They are a great addition to the spotting world but take nothing away from LA, it would be a great place to live regardless of its NBA team.
