Save moving

Moving home involves a lot of expenses, it’s enough to get you feeling stressed about your finances! Before the panic sets in, take a look at these simple ideas to help you save money on your move.

1) Budget your costs

When you’re moving into a home it’s essential to draw up a budget. Your upfront expenses include things like surveys and valuations, insurance, legal costs, and realtor fees.

Later down the line, you’ll also need to pay for things like removal fees, cleaning your property, and redirecting your mail. Write up all these costs, make estimates, get quotes and create different categories. Budgeting software may be helpful to manage your expenses. Once you’ve designed the perfect budget you can identify key areas where you can save.

2) The best mortgage lender

If you’re moving into a home you’ll want to find the best Mortgage Lender, to get you the best deal. We all have different financial circumstances, and sometimes the mortgage lending process can be difficult to navigate. To protect your financial health you’ll need to work with a reputable mortgage lender.

Some homeowners worry that they cannot begin the loan process, as they can’t pay the closing fees. Fortunately, there are several loan programs for such individuals. Getting the best deal on your mortgage will put you in a better financial situation in the long run, making it easier for you to save money.

3) Compare prices

You’ll want to get organized quickly, but it’s never a good idea to take the first deal that you see. Take your time to compare prices, researching your options is a much better way to save money. You can compare the costs of your removal company, insurance company, and cleaning expenses.

If you’re keen to save a little more you can always clean the property yourself, instead of hiring professional help. Now is also a good time to review your energy bills, and compare prices here too.  You could end up getting a better contract for your new property.

4) Go off-peak

The summer months are an incredibly popular time to move home, and for this reason, prices can be more expensive. If you can, it’s better to move during the autumn or wintertime. You should also book your moving company well in advance, this way you could get a reduced price.

5) Get frugal

If you’re looking to save money you’ve got to think frugal, for example, you might try sourcing free cardboard boxes or other packaging supplies? Declutter your home before you pack, you can sell your unwanted items and add this money to your budget. Clearing out your items is also a fantastic way to reduce waste and live more sustainably.

Bottom Line To Save When Moving

Moving home can be expensive, but with these five simple tips, you’re sure to make some great savings. When you get organized early there are plenty of ways that you can keep your costs down.
