I am really, really not a morning person. I know some people might argue that there are not morning people vs. night people. It’s just a matter of motivation, determination, smarts, etc., but I disagree.
I consider myself a night owl since I am the most productive at night. Often, I feel like I get a second wind around 10 pm or so.
So, what’s the problem, you ask? I am a mom, member of society, an adult that now needs to get up at a certain time of day. I can no longer sleep until noon.
It was time for me to figure how to be a morning person, or at least trick my body and mind into being a morning person.

1. Make a Schedule
Whether you like it or not, to be a morning person you need to make a schedule. Write it down, say it aloud, and tell others about your schedule. This will help hold you accountable. After time, perhaps lots of time, it will become a habit.
The best way to wake up early is to go to bed early. Look at what your nighttime routine and behaviors are. Then, see if you can adjust those so that you can go to bed earlier.

If you are not getting 7-9 hours of sleep at night, then look at your daily habits to see if there is any way you can go to bed earlier. Pay attention to the food and drinks you consume. Are having caffeine late in the day or eating foods high in sugar?

As another way to treat yourself in the morning, choose to read or listen to something uplifting. A treat could also be something a simple as a good cup of coffee or a delicious breakfast.
7. Just Do It!
If you’ve tried all of the above or are stubborn (like I can be), just suck it up and do it. You are an adult now. You have responsibilities. Bite the bullet (or whatever other clichés you like to use) and get the F out of bed!
