This is a post by Elle Jo about moving abroad.
If you’ve been traveling a lot then there’s a good chance that you’ve got a list of your favorite countries to visit. For example, you might love the scenery in France, you might love the food in Japan, or you could love the people of New Zealand. There are loads of fantastic experiences waiting to be discovered all across the world, but it’s completely normal to have our favorites and frequently revisit time and time again.
But what about moving to your favorite country? Is it ever a viable thing to do?
Most of us would find it virtually impossible to move to another country, especially if we don’t speak the language. However, if you’re motivated and willing to invest in such a move, then it could be a great choice if you’re looking for something different in life. So in this post, we’re going to describe five clear signs that you’re ready to move abroad to your favorite country.
You’ve started learning the language
Learning the language is usually a good idea if you want to have an easier time communicating. Basic phrases and numbers are a great start, but learning the grammar and potentially even how to read the language can show that you’re serious about moving to a different country. Language is a huge barrier to overcome if you ever want to move abroad, so if you’ve shown that you’re willing to pick up a new language and continue studying it, then it proves that you’re very motivated.
You just love hanging around with the locals
Have you ever spent a lot of time around locals when you travel? The people of a country can be surprisingly different from the people that you’ve spent time around in your life, especially if the culture and traditions are completely different. Perhaps you find them a lot more friendly and open, or maybe you just enjoy the locals at the places you’ve visited. If you feel like you get along with people, then it’s a fairly good sign that you’d be comfortable moving abroad.
You go there every year
If you simply can’t get enough of another country and visit there at least once every year, then it’s a pretty good sign that you’re ready to move abroad to your favorite country. Perhaps you just find yourself more relaxed there, maybe you much prefer the atmosphere there. Whatever the reason is, you shouldn’t hold yourself back from the place that you want to be, especially if you’re willing to invest the time, effort, and money into moving over there permanently.
You’ve taken a look at property choices
Whether you’re searching for a condominium complex such as Prive in Singapore or if you’re looking at homes for sale in Canada, if you’ve performed even the smallest property search in the past then there’s a good chance you’re ready to take the plunge and make a move. One of the biggest things that we’re concerned about when moving home is if we can actually afford it. If you’ve noticed that owning a home in another country is possible, then you’re one step closer to realizing that dream.
You feel like you have so much to explore
Do you ever get tired of your own country? Have you ever felt like you’ve no longer got anything fun or interesting to explore? If that’s the case, then it may be a good time to pack up your bags and explore something else. Some people just possess an almost insatiable wanderlust that takes them to every corner of the world, but if there are specific places in the world that truly make you feel excited to go out and travel, then you may have found your perfect match. Don’t hesitate to research further and consider moving for good if you feel a strong draw to a certain country.
You’re not afraid of getting lost
Getting lost in a foreign country usually isn’t a very fun time. However, it’s actually one of the best ways to experience unique travel adventures. If you’re not afraid of getting lost, then it usually means that you’re comfortable enough to travel around the country, speak with locals, and just have a good idea. It also shows that you have some familiarity with the country itself and perhaps even the language.
While moving to another country can be a massive commitment, it’s definitely something that you should consider if you find that these signs apply to you.
