5 Tips For Working Out At Home While In Quarantine
This is a collaborate post by Ellie Jo with tips on exercising at home.
COVID-19 has most of us locked up at home, making it difficult for those of us who like to regularly visit the gym, take a yoga class or have a fat-busting coolsculpting treatment.
Combined with boredom eating, and more time binge-watching Netflix, this creates a recipe for weight loss disaster. So to stop ourselves piling on the pounds while in lockdown we need to make sure we’re staying active.
So here are 5 simple tips to keep you moving and to improve your workouts at home.
Tips for Working Out at Home
1. Create a workout routine
Our daily routines have changed a lot in recent weeks and this is always a good excuse to let our exercise regimes drop. As we start to adjust to what life in lockdown looks like, it’s important to start building new routines including one for when we workout.
Try to work out at the same time each day and on the same days each week to make it a part of your new daily and weekly routine. You may also find it helpful to print our and hang up a workout calendar.
To help support your workout routine, Naked Whey Protein Powder is a grass fed whey protein that is completely free of additives and artificial sweeteners.
2.Vary your exercises
One of the reasons why we find it easier to stick to exercise classes is because someone else is telling us what to do and they vary the exercises that they give us each week to keep things interesting.
When creating your workout plan at home it’s important that you do the same. You may have a favorite online yoga tutorial but after a few sessions you may start to get bored. In addition, you may also find that you’re skipping out other important muscle groups.
Try to vary your exercises by using different online tutorials and also consider doing a variety of different styles of exercise such as a day of HIIT, a day of yoga, a day or jogging and a day of weights.
*To confuse muscles completely, you need to modify the type of exercises you do for each muscle group. *
Always when trying new exercises you need to look after yourself. Make sure you are being trained on proper technique and protect your body from injuries. EG if you have dodgy ankles, wrap your ankles to give them more support.
3. Find a power playlist
Music is a great motivator, so take some time to create your perfect power playlist to help you push through your workouts. The good news is that now you’re working out from home, you’re in control of the music, so whether you like disco, pop, rock or metal. The choice is yours and you can boogie on through the mix.
4. Treat yourself to some new activewear
Sometimes we need a little treat to motivate us into action. So although no one is going to see it, you may want to invest in some new activewear to make you feel good while you workout.
5. Get the whole family involved
And finally, if you’re in quarantine with your family then get everyone involved and make exercising fun. It’s a lot harder to choose the sofa over squats when you have people cheering you on and it will help the kids to burn off some of their excess energy too.
