I’m busy. I have a lot going on in my life. I try to eat healthy, but I know I don’t always get all of the vitamins and nutrients I need. Therefore, I take supplements to make sure my body is getting what it needs to thrive and keep up with the demands of my every day life. I was contacted by Truly Supplements to try their new line of dark chocolate supplements and giveaway a supplement package to a lucky reader.
Truly Supplements Dark Chocolate Supplements – Review
Truly Supplements sent a package with one container of each of their new chocolate supplements: biotin, melatonin, collagen, and probiotics.
My friend Deborah, from RehabDeb.com, has a functional rehabilitation practice focused on veterinary care. She also has many certifications and training experience such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Member of American College of Sports Medicine, and is a certified Wilderness First Responder. She has been a studying functional medicine and holistic nutrition for many years. She helped with the review of the supplements, and I will include her comments in this post.
First, let me tell you a little bit about the supplements we were given. Made with 70% dark chocolate and from cacao nibs, cane sugar and cocoa butter, these chocolate supplements are free from common food allergens. The biotin is to help boost your energy and the melatonin helps with sleep. Collagen is to help you look youthful longer, and the probiotics are for digestive system balance.
I have only been using these supplements for about a week, so I have not noticed any changes yet. I like the idea of adding supplements to dark chocolate. There are many people out there that need some extra incentives to take their supplements. Using chocolate as motivation is a great idea.
I also like the fact that most everyone can take these supplements regardless of food allergies or diet restrictions. These supplements are dairy free, Kosher, Non GMO, Vegan, Gluten free, and USDA organic.
Here is the commentary from Deborah
Overall, Truly Supplements achieves their stated goal of being “a truly delectable alternative to caplets, pills, and gummies”, and I think most people would find them to be a palatable method of supplement delivery.
Trubites (TM) combine 70% organic dark chocolate in four individual varieties of supplements currently popular for immune and skin health. The sugar content is low in comparison to most supplements that contain sugar, and based on the basic ingredients list, I would expect the bioavailability of the supplements contained in the Trubites (TM) to be high.
Trubites (TM) consist of organic ingredients, as certified by Oregon Tilth. Additional positive points are that the ingredients are cited to be “Non-GMO”, “Vegan”, and “Gluten-Free”.
I find the Trubites (TM) to be tasty and not overly dry nor bitter, even though my chocolate taste preferences run toward the milkier side.
Most progressive recommendations for probiotic supplementation are for a product that contains at least five bacterial strains, and for chronic health issues regarding the intestines or inflammation, much more than the 1 billion units contained in Trubites (TM) per day would be recommended. I’d prefer it have a more-widely beneficial bacteria strain.
The Trubites (TM) Melatonin supplement contains the same quality ingredients previously noted, as well as 5mg of Melatonin per serving (per Trubite). A 5mg dosage of melatonin to aid with sleep is a common dosage. The taste is the same as that of the other Trubites.
I cannot find any information online regarding the source or type of collagen used in the Collagen Trubites (TM), so I contacted the company asking them to tell me. I will have to get back with you when they answer.
Overall it appears that the company has used some quality ingredients for delivery (i.e., good chocolate).
