The Most Common Signs Of Vision Problems

Common Signs of Vision Problems. Woman Getting Eye Exam

Vision problems can arise at any age and for a variety of reasons. Because sight is a significant factor in our everyday lives, protecting your vision and that of your children is crucial.

Often, vision problems can be corrected and rectified if prescription lenses and eye exercises are adopted quickly. But even in cases when vision problems can’t be mended, prescription glasses can still enhance eyesight.

That said, an annual eye test is generally the best course of action to safeguard eye health. Below are common signs of vision deterioration.

Squinting Or Tilting Head To Side To Focus

This sign is predominantly visible when individuals with vision problems are attempting to read. It also occurs when they use their smartphones, or focus on other such items.

If you notice your child is squinting at their phone or tilting their head in an attempt to focus on the screen, consider an eye test.

Eye Discomfort

Some physical signs of sight problems can be pretty pesky. Some symptoms are if your eyes have severe and sudden pain, recurrent pain, swelling, red eyes, itching, burning, and others.

If any discomfort is experienced in or around your eyes, it’s vital to visit your optometrist as soon as possible. Alternatively, a regular GP visit is also suitable. There could be an infection or other problems. Some can be fixed with appropriate medication, such as eye drops and others.

Bumping Into Things

Bumping into things is never a good sign, and it’s not a comfortable way to move through life either. If you or your child suddenly finds it more tricky to move around and has become substantially more clumsy than ever before, this is a blatant sign of a vision problem.  If this occurs, seek medical attention immediately.

Eating And Drinking Mishaps

If you can’t see too well, it won’t be all that easy to eat and drink. Simple details like getting food on a fork or spoon can become exceptionally challenging. If you or your child are experiencing more frequent eating and drinking mishaps and struggles, seek medical attention.

Other Symptoms

There are several other tell-tale signs of vision problems, and while some others include changes to iris color and eye discharge, the best course of action is to prioritize annual eye tests. These tests will identify vision problems before they worsen, enabling you to keep your vision in good health as a direct result.

In Conclusion

If you notice any of the above symptoms, seek medical attention.
