However, there are some of these jobs that you can have it all, a fancy title, a great salary, and you can be making a difference in people’s lives. Careers for People Who Want to Make a Difference in the World
Medical Professional
While this is an obvious choice for helping people, it still has to be on the list because there aren’t enough people working in the profession. According to Bradley University, the evolving needs of patients and the increasing complexity of health care delivery models have created a demand for many specialized health care professionals. This means that there are more and more options opening up in this field, and this is one of the best ways you can help people and really make a difference in people’s lives.
A Scientist
You don’t have to be helping people face to face and physically speaking to them or touching them to be making a difference to their lives, and if you work as a scientist, there are a number of things you could be doing including developing new drugs to save lives, protecting the environment, or ensuring that products, foods, and industrial processes are safe for people.
A Lawyer
There are many different types of lawyer; it’s not just those who you see on telly helping out criminals. Lawyers work for big companies and can help them make sure they are running their business fairly and correctly for the wider public. Or you could be a lawyer who works with children and families. There is something for everyone.
The Armed Forces
Getting a job in the armed forces can mean that you are working for your country and helping to protect it. This is a very noble thing to do, and within the forces, there are many different specialist roles that you could do, so even if you have a passion for cooking and want to be a chef, there are roles within the forces which mean you can do that and still know you’re making a difference to your country.
Working In Finance
If you want to work in finance, there are many opportunities in the charity sector where you could be managing finances, auditing organizations to check that everything is above board, and ultimately making sure that the people in need are getting the money and the help that they should be.
Information Technology
There are loads of jobs in IT which you might not traditionally see as making a difference to people. However, they really can. People need to be protected from cybercrime or people who aren’t who they claim to be online. Or there are loads of jobs in good, charitable companies that are crying out for people to help them with their IT systems so they can do more good in the world.
