I love to try DIY beauty products, but there are some things you should not DIY. I had heard about using school glue as face peel, so I thought I’d try it out.
So, does Elmer’s glue really work as a face mask? I decided to try it out for myself. I will do just about anything for a blog post!
If you are going to try a glue face mask too, then make sure you use school glues as other types of glue could be toxic to your skin or inhalation. The best face glue is non toxic school glue.
Let’s say you don’t want to spend a lot on face masks…. or maybe you recently ran out of the facial mask you have been using. Check to see if you have any school glue in the house. Make sure it’s the non-toxic kind.
Disclaimer: So, is Elmer’s glue good for your face? I really don’t know if Elmer’s glue is safe to put on your face. I’m not a doctor, nor a chemist, nor pharmacist. To be on the safe side, test a sample and use these products at your own risk. Keep in mind, some people are more sensitive to certain chemical combinations or scents than others.
Here’s how my Elmers glue facial experience turned out.
How to Make an Elmers Glue Face Mask
1. First, I made sure to apply the glue to clean, dry skin. I rubbed pretty thick, generous amount on my face. You can use your fingers or a cotton ball. Make sure to keep the glue away from your eyes, mouth, and any hair (example: eyebrows).
2. Let the glue dry completely. I used quite a lot and it took mine about an hour to completely dry. If you don’t pile it on quite as thickly as I did, it should take a shorter amount of time. Mine dried in about 30 minutes.
3. Then, remove the glue by either pulling it off (slowly) or gently rubbing it off with a warm washcloth.
You’ve eaten dehydrated fruit, and it’s still real fruit. Earth Breeze Laundry Sheets are along the same lines. They’re actual laundry detergent but made in eco-friendly sheets. They’re just dehydrated laundry sheets that come in cardboard envelopes.

Does Elmers Glue Remove Blackheads?
Results of the glue facial: I was actually pleasantly surprised. My skin felt very smooth and was shiny, in a good way. The Elmer’s glue did not remove blackheads the way Biore Strips do, but I do think maybe it removed some of the blackheads. Removing blackheads with glue sounds crazy, but it works.
Is it bad to put glue on your face? I’m not sure I would do this all the time as it was pretty messy and took a long time dry. But, if you are wanting to save money or have run out of your regular face mask, school glue makes for an ok facial alternative. I probably wouldn’t do this too often and I would guess it would probably clog your pores and could make face problems worse.
