Achieving A Healthy Glow: The Best Skincare And Makeup Tips

In the age of social media and glossy magazines, it’s impossible to avoid images of flawless skin. Many of us long for glowing, dewy skin, but how do you go about achieving a beautiful, radiant complexion without a glam squad or an array of filters at your disposal? If you’re looking for advice, here are some top tips and tricks.

Protect your skin

The first commandment of healthy, bright, clear skin is taking steps to protect your skin from the elements. Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and invest in products that will nourish, moisturize and shield your skin from the cold and wind in the fall and winter months.

Your skin is the largest organ in the body, but it’s often neglected. Spending just a few minutes a day tending to your skin will make all the difference.  Look into using all natural soaps you can trust for your entire family.

If you don’t already have a daily skincare regime, now is the time to establish one.

Cleanse in the morning and evening, moisturize once or twice a day depending on your skin type and the season and use serums and targeted lotions and creams to address any skin concerns. If you have dry skin, for example, facial oils are an excellent investment. If you’re worried about the signs of aging, have a look for eye creams and rejuvenating serums. 

Finding the right cosmetics for your skin

If you want your skin to look bright, healthy and youthful, then it’s essential to spend a little time researching products and searching for cosmetics that will suit your skin and your expectations. For a subtle, natural look, it’s best to avoid overloading the skin with heavy foundations, concealer and lots of blusher or bronzer.

Opt for lightweight vegan foundation makeup, blend with a sponge or a brush and add a subtle flush of color on the apples of the cheeks. You can add radiance and enhance your features with a drop of highlighter on the bridge of the nose, the cheekbones and the Cupid’s bow. Always take the time to read product descriptions and look at the ingredients before you buy makeup. For dewy skin, look for products that hydrate and add luminescence. It’s best to avoid long-wear or full-coverage foundations.

Healthy, safe tanning

Many of us feel more confident when we have a bit of color and we’re sporting a golden glow. Laying out in the sun may lead to a deep tan, but it will also age your skin and it could also put you at risk of skin cancer. If you’re keen to protect your skin, or you’re looking for solutions for fall and winter, there are safe ways to preserve a natural-looking tan.

Using self-tanning products is an excellent way to increase confidence without putting your health at risk. Before you tan, exfoliate 24 hours in advance, moisturize the elbows, knees, hands and feet and make sure you have a mitt to hand. Apply the tan in fluid movements across the skin. 

Many of us dream of having a complexion worthy of a glossy magazine spread. It may not be possible to achieve perfect skin without a filter or editing software, but you can enhance radiance and enjoy a healthy glow by taking good care of your skin, embracing safe tanning and choosing suitable makeup products.
