Pill Bugs and all their different names
What do you call this bug?
There are lots of different names for this one bug. The pill bug is a crustacean and they spend their whole time on land. This small, segmented isopod is also known as a roly-poly, doodle bug, or wood louse depending on where you grew up. These bugs are not insects. These invertebrates can roll in balls to protect themselves. Usually active at night and found around the world, pill bugs live in temperate forests, rainforests, and grasslands. Find them in moist areas such as soil, under rocks, dead logs, or decaying leaves.
