Toddler Training Underwear
Flannel FabricHobby Lobby, Joann's, Wal-Mart and Amazon all sell this by the yard.
PUL (Polyester Urethane Laminate)Hobby Lobby and Joann's sell this by the yard. You will need ¼-1 yard
Straight Pins
Wax Paper
Scissors
Instructions
Loosely pin the Wax Paper to the training pants. Trace outline of the training pants for your pattern. The back side is a little higher than the front, this is normal
Label your wax paper patter with an F and B to indicate front and back.
Cut 4 layers of flannel and 1 layer of PUL. Using the wax paper pattern.
Flip the training pants inside out
Pin Flannel pieces to the inside of the training underwear.
Zig Zag Stitch 1 flannel piece into the inside of the training underwear.
Flip the training pants right side out and repeat.
Pin PUL to the outside of the training underwear
Zig Zag Stitch the PUL to the outside of the underwear
Dry your new homemade training pants in the drier on high for 20 minutes. This will reseal the holes in the PUL to help prevent leaks.
Notes
This method is a great way to save on the cost of disposable training pants, which can get very expensive. These steps are great for keeping clothing dry if your toddler has an accident. If you're using these training pants for long naps, your kids clothing may get wet, but their sheets should stay dry. I wouldn't recommend these for over nights, unless you're on the back end of needing training pants.
