Cloth Diaper Pails
ChaChingQueen recommends having one of these for every 1000 sq feet of your house (or apartment). If you have a multi level home, you may want one or more for each floor.
Pails that are designed specifically for cloth diapers include carbon filters to help absorb stink and prevent the home from smelling like a bag of poop or a bag of pee. If want to save a little, a traditional trash can and lid will work, but the scent will not stay contained.
The plastic bag only makes it worse. You can drop your diapers in a bag that’s hanging in the bathroom, but the smells won’t be 100% contained.
Diaper Pail Recommendations
If you want a pail that should contain the odor that your cloth diapers hold between soil and washes, search no more.
This pail has a carbon filter that will absorb the smells from the diapers. So each time you open it to add a new dirty, you won’t be overwhelmed with the stink.
There is also a space for a scent disc that will help with a good smell each time you do open to add more crap, or change the wet dry bag.
While this pail isn’t designed specifically for cloth diapers, it will work to control the odor that will linger if your wash routine is more than every day or 2.
If you’re want a safe, inexpensive pail to store dirties for a couple days this is a good option. Don’t expect this pail to work to control or contain odor. If you plan to wash daily, you’ll be good with this option.
But if you go any longer than 2 days, then you and your house guests will be likely to tell there are dirty diapers in the house.
Cloth Diaper Pail Liners
You will want two of these for each pail you own. Having 2 bags per pail on hand will ensure that you always have a clean bag. If your plan is to wash daily, it would be helpful to have 3 bags per pail. Having a 3rd bag will ensure that you have time to allow your freshly washed bag time to dry thoroughly.
Note: Avoid drying these liners in your dyer to ensure the PLU stays intact.
One of the best things about cloth diapers is coordinating diapers with seasons, holidays, or outfits. The same can be said of pail liners. The options are endless, and you can have liner bags to coordinate with nursery themes, favorite sports, girls, boys, or simple and gender neutral.
Cloth Diaper Pail Liner Recommendations
Here are a few liners that we love, and hope you do too.
We love these gender neutral liner bags that come in a 2 pack. Perfect if for single level homes or apartments. Having only 1 diaper pail you will typically only want 2 bags.
For a diaper pail that stay in your littles nursery why not grab bag that are gender specific. This 2 pack is perfect for holding any little girls dirty fluff.
Wegreeco makes these great ender neutral pail liners. Which are perfect for little girls or boys. These come in a 2 pack which is ideal to ensure you always have a clean liner for your pail.
Hanging Pail Liner Bags
Hanging wet dry bags make an excellent replacement if you don’t have the space for a traditional diaper pail for cloth diapers. These bags easily hang on the back of door (with a over the door hook.)
With a zipper closure, these bags make it easy to store dirty cloth diapers between washes.
How adorable are these hanging wet dry bags. Perfect for not only cloth diapers, but to bring along to the pool on summer days.
If you’re trying to be discreet with your dirty diaper storage, something basic like this doesn’t draw too much attention to any visitors.
Consider Buying and Selling Cloth Diaper Accessories Used
The world of resale for cloth diapers and accessories is massive. Everyone wants to save a few bucks where they can. With proper use and care, most of your diaper accessories will fetch you a few bucks in the used market.
You’ve eaten dehydrated fruit, and it’s still real fruit. Earth Breeze Laundry Sheets are along the same lines. They’re actual laundry detergent but made in eco-friendly sheets. They’re just dehydrated laundry sheets that come in cardboard envelopes.
Facebook Marketplace, or local BST (buy, sell, trade) groups are hot spots for giving second life to these items when your cloth journey has ended.
