This is a post for a very easy granola recipe. It is low fat, healthy, low sugar. At the end, you can add whatever else you like.. nuts, dried fruit, etc.
Recently my son has been eating a ton of granola. For breakfast, he likes to eat yogurt parfaits layered with fruit, yogurt, and granola. Unfortunately, granola can be expensive. So, I decided to try to make my own granola and it turned out so well, I don’t buy granola anymore. With my healthy recipe, I’m saving money and I know exactly what is in the food my son is eating. Here is the easiest homemade granola recipe.
Easiest Homemade Granola Recipe Made with Oatmeal
First, here is a basic granola recipe. If you want plain granola, then follow these steps. At the end, you can add whatever else you like… nuts, dried fruit, etc. This recipe comes out on the sweet side.
For healthier granola, if you don’t have a sweet tooth or prefer less sugar, then lower the measurements as you like.
Save money by making your own granola. This is a very easy granola recipe.
- 5 cups rolled oats not the instant kind
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

First, preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Next, in a large bowl stir oats, brown sugar, and salt.

In a small bowl mix the oil, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.

Then, pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients in the large bowl. Mix well. I use my hands for this.

After that, spread mixture on two baking sheets (lined with foil if you want).

Then, bake for 15 minutes and mix the granola. Then, place back in the oven for another 10 minutes or so until the granola is just barely golden brown.

Remove the sheets from the oven and mix the granola again.

Finally, place the granola in jars or airtight containers once it is completely cool.
