Ingredients
Leftover homemade challah bread6 slices
1large egg
1/4cupmilk
1/2tspcinnamon
1tspvanilla extract
Butter or oil for the pan
Optional: Powdered sugarmaple syrup, and fresh fruits for serving
Instructions
Prepare the egg mixture: In a wide shallow bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Soak the challah slices: Take your leftover challah slices and dip each slice into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well coated. Let the bread soak for about 15-20 seconds on each side.
Heat the pan: While your bread is soaking, heat a flat pan over medium heat. Add a little butter or oil to prevent the toast from sticking.
Cook the French toast: Once the pan is hot, add your soaked challah slices. Cook each side for 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Be sure to flip the bread slices only once to retain their fluffy texture.
Serve: Place your cooked French toast on a plate. If desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, and top with fresh fruits. Enjoy your delicious homemade Challah French Toast!
