Best Skincare Routine for Clear Skin

Having a skincare regimen is critical not only for the health and appearance of your skin now, but also how you set it up for long term care and results. Taking good care of your skin regularly not only gets you in the habit of giving it the care it deserves, but the effort you put into your skin now will show later as well!

If you’re looking for a technique for layering skin care products, here are 5 steps for building an effective skincare regimen that will greatly impact your skin:

Table of Contents

  • 1. Wash your face twice a day
  • 2. Apply moisturizer
  • 3. SPF year round
  • 4. Antioxidant serum
  • 5. Night mask/ Moisturizer
  • In Conclusion

1. Wash your face twice a day

Washing your face is a non-negotiable step for skincare, especially at night. You want to remove any and all sunscreen, makeup and impurities that collected during the day and give your skin a fresh start.

Nighttime is when your skin does its repairing, and if you do this with a clean face and then targeted products, you’re giving your skin its best chance to repair and recover. If you find your skin to be sensitive and don’t want to overdo it with a morning wash, you can use a micellar water or focus on a hydrating cleanser with ceramides that won’t strip your skin but will give it that nice refresh.

2. Apply moisturizer

No matter what your skin type is, moisturizer is essential! It has been a common misconception that if you have oily skin you can skip the moisturizer, but this can in fact cause more oil production as your skin tries to produce what it is lacking.

If you have dry skin particularly, try applying your moisturizer when your skin is still a little damp from washing it.

3. SPF year round

SPF is an essential product, all year round. Even if you are going above and beyond with the rest of your skincare routine, if you are skipping SPF then the damage done to your skin can’t really reverse no matter how many products you use.

So apply, and reapply! You can use a lower factor SPF in the winter time, but still be sure to apply.

4. Antioxidant serum

An antioxidant serum, such as Vitamin C serum, will help to protect your skin throughout the day from free radicals. Free radicals can cause stress on the skin, and many find that by incorporating a vitamin C serum they can not only help protect skin but also reduce irritation and redness in the skin.

5. Night mask/ Moisturizer

A night mask or moisturizer is that special step that goes beyond the typical moisturizer. It is often a richer formula moisturizer or a specific overnight mask that will hydrate and give your skin a boost.

In Conclusion

A good skincare routine that starts while you’re in your 20’s and carried on will have a lasting impact on your appearance later in life.

In addition to having a well rounded skincare routine, make sure you drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is key to maintaining your skins elasticity, and youthful appearance.

What is your holy grail skincare step?
