Ingredients:
- Hot Dog Buns (I’m a huge fan of the brioche buns from Trader Joe’s)
- Pasta Sauce
- Parmesan Cheese
- Your favorite shredded pizza cheese
- Toppings (optional)
We usually have pepperoni or salami on hand for toppings.
We always have a stash of pepperoni because we tend to take half off frozen pizzas (since the kids aren’t big fans).
Step-by-Step Recipe:
- Preheat your oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the buns: Slice your hot dog buns in half lengthwise so that you have two flat surfaces to work with.
- Add the sauce: Spread a generous amount of pasta sauce onto each bun half.
- Cheese it up: Sprinkle a good helping of Parmesan cheese over the sauce. Follow this up with your favorite shredded pizza cheese. The combination of the two cheeses will give your mini pizzas a delectable cheesy crust.
- Top it off: This step is optional, but if you want to add some extra flavor, now is the time to do it. Add your favorite toppings. We usually go for pepperoni or salami.
- Bake: Place your prepared hot dog bun pizzas onto a baking sheet and pop them into the preheated oven. Bake them for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
- Serve and enjoy: Once they’re done, let them cool for a few minutes before digging in. These mini pizzas are best enjoyed warm!
