Tamarindo, Costa Rica Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel Review
I love Costa Rica! Every chance I get, I try to go to Costa Rica. Pura Vida! I studied/lived there for a few months in 2000 and fell in love with the country. I returned with my husband for a vacation in 2008, and was able to convince him we needed to go again this year.
My husband and I were looking for a short vacation destination. Â We wanted a place that was relaxing, but had some activities.
Big adventures were not necessary, but we wanted to be near a town with various excursions and dining options.  Thankfully, we found what we were looking for in the Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
Here is some video of Jardin Del Eden.
I had not been to the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica.  We found the Jarden del Eden Boutique Hotel in Tamarindo by searching reviews online.
We got a good deal on a flight since Southwest now flies to the Liberia airport from Austin.  You can find cheap Costa Rica flights here on Trip Advisor.
So, we headed to Tamarindo to stay at the Jardin de Eden for 5 nights in May.

Getting to the Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel
If you fly into Liberia Airport (LIR) Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport the drive to the hotel takes about 1 hour. We rented a car. Beware, there are lots of additional taxes added to car rental that they don’t tell you about when booking.
Get cheap car rental in Costa Rica using the compare car rental rates feature on Expedia. Using Google maps we were able to easily find our way around. What did we do before smart phones and GPS?
You can get 50% off of a Pogo Pass by using promo code CHACHING at checkout, making it just $49.99 ($39.99 for Kansas City). This discounted entertainment pass is a great way to enjoy entertainment for FREE all year long!
The roads in Tamarindo, and most of Costa Rica for that matter, is not as smooth and maintained as we are used to in the United States.
Be prepared to drive on gravel roads, roads with lots of potholes, unmarked roads, and speed bumps. Â
We learned that speed bumps and schools go hand-in-hand. Words of advice, if you see a sign marked “esquela”, then you know there is a hidden speed bump near.
The hotel has a small parking lot. Check-in first and they will direct you to the parking lot.
If you do not have a rental car, then search Liberia airport to Tamarindo shuttle services on Trip Advisor.
Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel Review of Rooms
We stayed in a room with a king bed and a balcony. The rate we got was $180/night. The amenities included air conditioning, a mini fridge, a coffee maker, a satellite TV, a digital safe, a hair dryer, and free wi-fi.
Our room was number 13, off of the lobby. Â I was a little worried about being so close to the lobby, but the noise was not too bad. During the day we could barely hear the lobby music in our room.
Since we came during the slow season, there were not many people hanging around the lobby.
The room was clean and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, though a little hard.  The bathroom only had one sink, though plenty of counter space.
There was a high window in the bathroom that opened up to the lobby.
The balcony was small, but fine for just two people. We had a beautiful view of the pool and the ocean off in the distance.
The free wi-fi? It was horrible in the room. I had to go to the lobby or other common areas of the hotel to get wi-fi. It worked okay by the pool and restaurant and even in the garden by the beach.
Food at Jardin del Eden Review
A Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel Review of the food: Breakfast was included in the room rate. It included an assortment of breads, homemade jam, and fruits in addition to meals ordered off the menu.
There were five menu choices: American breakfast, Typical breakfast, omelet, club waffle, and super wellness. Â See the image below for details on each breakfast.
I thought the food was good and there was plenty of it. Â Breakfast also included coffee, tea, milk, and juice.
We did not eat any other meals at the hotel restaurant.
The Pool
The pool was nice and clean, but we didn’t spend very much time there. There were plenty of options for seating including cabanas.
Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel Review of the Beach
We loved the private beach at Jardin de Eden. It was a short walk from the hotel. You walk down a private walkway, out a locked gate, cross the main street, and enter the garden beach through another locked gate.
There was a grassy area with a few lounge chairs and a great view of the beach. There were also waiters that would come by so that you could order drinks and possibly food.
One afternoon, we started hearing howling, dinosaur-like sounds coming from the trees of the neighboring hotel. There were howler monkeys in the trees and we were able to get up close to take some pictures.
Review of the Location of the Jardin del Eden Hotel
The hotel was enough off of the main street to be quiet and secluded, but with easy access to shopping, the beach, restaurants, and grocery/convenience stores.
Hospitality
The staff at the hotel were very friendly. Â The front desk answered any questions we had about either the hotel or things to do in and around Tamarindo.
One morning while eating breakfast, a couple of the waiters pointed out a monkey eating a mango on the roof of the restaurant. Â It was nice of them to point him/her out to us.
No Kids – Adults Only Hotel in Tamarindo
This is an adults-only hotel. No kids are permitted to stay here. On the online reviews, many people thought this was a plus in their Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel review.
Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel Review Overall Experience in Tamarindo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
We really enjoyed our stay. Â Five nights was a good amount of time. Â The breakfast was good, the staff was friendly, the rooms were comfortable, and we were able to relax.
Do not plan on using wi-fi in the rooms (or at least room 13). Â
The signal was horrible. Â If you need internet access you will have to do so from the lobby or other parts of the hotel
I highly recommend Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel in Tamarindo for an adults-only relaxing vacation in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. Â
