Raw Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe (Gluten-free Option) - Raw Edible Cookie Dough Recipe

Raw, edible cookie dough! Raw Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe that’s safe to eat and a little bit healthy with a gluten-free option

What is it about raw cookie dough?  Why are we so drawn to it even though we know it’s not safe to eat raw eggs?  Cookie dough is just so soft, moist, and …well, just so yummy!  Unfortunately, there have been many instances of E. coli, linked to raw cookie dough, causing people of all ages to become sick and in some cases even leading to death.

This is serious, but you can still enjoy the mouthwatering taste of raw cookie dough without the dangers of using raw eggs.  I have come up with two different recipes for Raw Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough that’s not only safe to eat, but also a little bit healthy.  One of the versions is a gluten-free recipe for the cookie dough.

Notes on the raw edible cookie dough recipe:

What makes this chocolate chip cookie dough a little bit healthy?  Well, it includes oats instead of mostly flour like regular cookies.  The oats provide some protein and fiber.  Yes, there’s still sugar.   If you want to make this recipe healthier, then try using different types of sweeteners (coconut sugar, honey, etc.), fewer sweeteners, and/or different types of flours or grains.  You could try using whole wheat flour.

My husband is my guinea pig.  Since he is super picky he does not usually like healthy tasting foods.  He only tried recipe #1.  He thought it could be a little sweeter.  If you have a sweet tooth then you could try adding a little brown sugar to the mix.  Other than that, he seemed to like the safe-to-eat raw cookie dough concoction.

For fun, try adding other ingredients.  What do you like in your cookies?  You could try adding some peanut or almond butter for more protein.  Substitute dried fruit for the chocolate chips.  I bet the cookie dough would taste great with dried cranberries or raisins.

Enjoy!
